STORYTELLING THRU FILM, ANIMATION, MUSIC & MORE…

ABADAK is a Mi'kmaq word to describe a place near an island. For artists Ivan J. White and W. Evan Butler, who come from Flat Bay and Stephenville Crossing respectively, this word has many meanings and associations. While they are islanders who come from Ktaqmkuk | Newfoundland, they also have connections to Sandy Point, (aka, Flat Island) a location historically used by L'nu'k (Mi'kmaq) and European settlers, and is a focal point in their home region of Nujio'qonk — Where the Sand Blows — also called Bay St. George.

IVAN & EVAN first and foremost, are storytellers, and when they have a story to share, they do so through a variety of media. To find out more, email us at: contact@abadak.ca
